I Will - Brandi Carlile cover
Hi loves,
Maggie and I just threw together this folksey cover of Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart”. Watch it here on the site, on the covers page, or youtube, or below:
While your at it, head over and support Maggie and I in the LILITH FAIR COMPETITION!
PLEASE VOTE – we’ve made it to the final round, so we need all the help we can follow through to the finish.
I’m trying to set up some summer gigs. I’m thinking that, for now, I’ll be doing more coffeehouses and open mics. But it’s extremely daunting. New York, more than anywhere, intimidates the hell out of me. I just feel like everyone here is a professional musician and practiced. Also there are just so many people here. Just because of the size of the population, I become such a small fish in a big pool. This is nothing new, I know everyone feels this way at some point, but I guess it never hit me so hard before. I guess I’ll just dive in then…
More info on gigs to come. Hopefully I’ll be integrating a calendar on the site somewhere.
Smith did a little press about me and Maggie competing to perform at lilith fair. check it out and vote!
So, Maggie and I spent a few hours in a beautiful studio a couple of weeks ago. It was super fun, and we came up with this:
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
You should listen to her myspace right now.

Clarification – we are dorks.
She’s super talented, and I’m really looked forward to working with her more.
In other news, I’ll be in the big apple this summer (do only grandparents call it that?) and I’ll be playing shows (read: open mic nights) often and with great zeal! Maybe I can build a bit more of a concrete fan base. That’s the dream anyway. Who knows? Perhaps it’s just a “Thing We’ll Never Know” (see what I did there??!!) Actually we will know – this summer – more info to come.
People have been asking me how to vote and I think I finally figured it out. It’s a pretty unclear and bizarre system but I guess we have to try and work with it. After you create a user name, visit this page for the New York contest: http://www.ourstage.com/judge/ordered?channel=252-lilith-local-talent-search-new-york to start voting.
Four artists will pop up and after you listen to each of them, you rank them by comparing them to one another.
I was under the impression that fans could vote directly for one artist, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. My best advice is to judge artists in the New York contest and hope that our page pops up so that you can rank us highest in our group.
If anyone has other questions, feel free to message me.
Thanks again for your support!
ps. WE’RE CURRENTLY NUMBER ONE!!!
Maggie and I went to a studio yesterday and recorded this beauty. Please listen!!
Last week in Los Angeles I participated in a live Q&A as part of an ASCAP expo on songwriting. When the topic of Twitter came up, I explained my waning interest in it being part of my daily life. By no means do I think it’s over as a medium altogether, but I do think that the days of “Twitter: The…
This is interesting. Funny how it really just gives Mr. Mayer more publicity on tumblr. But I do have these days where I imagine someone like him hearing my music, and getting some sort of big break. A girl can dream right?
Oh, speaking of music, my friend Maggie and I are competing to win a chance to play at the New York stop of Lilith Fair. Please check out our page and consider voting:
